Texans add a "sure thing" in Green

Ahman Green signed a blockbuster (for a 30 yr old RB) deal with the Houston Texans on Sunday as the Texans wisely decided that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. The Texans were rumored to be eyeing a trade up to the top 5 in order to select Adrian Peterson of Oklahoma. However it came down to injury history and Green simply had a lot more of it as well as age on his side. The Texans simply could not risk taking the collegiately injury prone Peterson and having him turn out to be a healthy pro. Ahman Green, on the other hand, spent most of 2005 recovering from a serious thigh injury, spent part of the 2006 year banged up, and is 30, making him the "sure thing" safer choice in terms of who will actually get injured this season.
